City of Manila – In response to the pressing housing needs of Manila residents, the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) and the Manila City Local Government Unit (LGU) convened to strategize the acceleration of construction of designated 4PH housing projects located within the city.

In a meeting at the Manila City Hall on March 25, SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa, along with other SHFC officers and representatives, together with City of Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, deliberated on streamlining processes to ensure the earliest completion of three 4PH projects currently under construction, which includes the San Miguel de Manila Residences located in the old San Miguel District near Malacañang, the Marina Port Town Project in North Harbor, Tondo and Sta. Mesa Altura in Sta. Mesa District.

SHFC Vice President for Resettlement Services Bob Flores led discussions, highlighting the LGU’s pivotal role in facilitating permit issuances and as initiators in preparing the community and building their organizations. Mayor Lacuna voiced constituents’ concerns regarding relocation and project specifics, while SHFC made the assurance of favorable financing arrangements, inclusive design, and timely construction.

The parties arrived at a consensus on the need for enhanced coordination between SHFC and the Manila City LGU to address the housing challenges and improve living conditions for Manila’s residents.
