The Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) officially launched the 37th anniversary celebration of the Community Mortgage Program (CMP) on Monday at its Makati Head Office. Held under the theme “Kaagapay ng Komunidad: Mula Noon Hanggang Ngayon,” the event was spearheaded by President and CEO Federico Laxa.

The program opened with welcoming remarks from Corporate Planning and Communications Group Vice President Florencio Carandang, Jr., who underscored the transformative role of the CMP in empowering informal settler families and building resilient communities. His message set an inspiring tone for the celebration, which brought together homeowners’ associations (HOAs) and SHFC officers and employees to honor nearly four decades of partnership and progress.

In his keynote address, President Laxa outlined key innovations under the Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP), including the introduction of incremental housing and stronger collaboration with other government agencies. Among these potential partnerships are with TESDA to provide livelihood training and with PESO to open employment opportunities within the communities. “SHFC is not only about shelter; it is also about shelter and beyond,” he emphasized, highlighting the agency’s holistic approach to community development.

A major highlight of the celebration was the unveiling of the 37th anniversary emblem—a symbol of SHFC’s unwavering commitment to inclusive housing development and community empowerment. The event also marked the launch of a commemorative coffee table book featuring inspiring success stories of CMP beneficiaries and other housing programs.

President Laxa personally awarded signed copies to officers of Armal Village Neighborhood Association from Taytay, Rizal and Llano Urban Poor HOA from Caloocan City, recognizing their achievements and contributions to the program’s enduring legacy.

Adding to the festivities was a special exhibit showcasing the journey and milestones of the CMP, as well as stories of transformation from partner communities. This visual display allowed attendees to revisit the program’s rich history and its lasting impact on thousands of Filipino families.

To cap off the kick-off event, SHFC presented a lineup of activities scheduled throughout the month, designed to engage stakeholders, showcase success stories, and reinforce the corporation’s mission of building lives and transforming communities.

Among the officers who attended the ceremony were Support Cluster Senior Vice President Atty. Leo Deocampo, Accounts Management Cluster Senior Vice President Josefina Banglagan, Resettlement Services Group Vice President Bob Flores, and VisMin 4PH Vice President Engr. Felman Gilbang.

Mega Manila Group Vice President Engr. Elsa Juliana Calimlim, Program Development and Enhancement Vice President Atty. Maria Rosalie Richa Taguian, Finance and Comptrollership Vice President Dante Anabe, and Legal Affairs Vice President Atty. Melanine Valenciano also graced the event.

Treasury Vice President Jason Yap, Title Unitization and Asset Management Group (TUAMG) Vice President Marissa Diestro, Compliance Officer and Board Secretary Atty. Karoline Abello-Tordecilla, and Central Luzon 4PH Head Prandy Vergara were also present.
