Housing sector’s budget gains Senate backing

SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa joined DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar and heads of attached Key Shelter Agencies at the Senate hearing presided by Senator Risa Hontiveros on the department’s 2025 budget on September 3.

SHFC’s ongoing projects under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) program are among the major accomplishments presented by the department, significantly contributing to President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s housing goals.

During the session, President and CEO Laxa emphasized how SHFC’s reflows are strategically reinvested to fund its regular housing programs, ensuring sustainable support for its community-driven shelter initiatives across the country.

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel, Senator Cynthia Villar, and Senator Ronald dela Rosa also attended the hearing. They expressed support for the housing sector, recognizing its critical role in addressing the country’s housing backlog and uplifting the lives of low-income families.
