Home at last: A new chapter for new People’s Ville residents
Published on 07 May 2025
For the 27 families who recently moved into their respective units at People’s Ville in Davao City, their dream of owning a safe, decent, and permanent home has finally come true. They are the first batch of member-beneficiaries to settle in their new homes in Calinan District under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program—the flagship housing initiative of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
Among them is Pauline Denise Yrasugui, who shared her heartfelt gratitude. “Gustong kong mag-thank you [sa SHFC] kasi hindi ko ma-imagine na may ganitong opportunity sa amin. Hanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala. Thankful masyado kasi may ganitong project [People’s Ville] para sa mga tao na hindi ma-afford magkabahay. Mahirap kasi mag-rent—mahal masyado.”
For many of these families, having a home to call their own has been a long-held aspiration–making this relocation a life-changing milestone. Tears of joy, fulfillment, and excitement filled the air as they stepped through the doors of their new homes. Despite the exhaustion from moving, the community spirit remains strong, with new residents eagerly beginning to organize and build their lives together in this new chapter.
People’s Ville is one of the 81 4PH projects being implemented by SHFC, a key shelter agency under the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development led by Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar. It is set to welcome its next batch of residents, with additional Notices of Approval from the Home Development Mutual Fund expected to be signed soon. In October 2023, Secretary Acuzar, together with SHFC President & CEO Federico Laxa and SHFC VisMin 4PH Vice President Engr. Felman Gilbang, led the site inspection of People’s Ville to assess its progress and reaffirm support for the project.
Across the region, other 4PH projects of the corporation are nearing completion. These include Crystal Peak Estates in San Fernando City, Pampanga and Valley View Township in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
