The Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) introduced its Community-Guided Financing (CGF) framework during a committee meeting held by the Committee on Housing and Urban Development on April 24, at the House of Representatives in Quezon City.
Key participants in the meeting included Bob Flores, SHFC Vice President for Resettlement Services, and Florencio Carandang, Jr., SHFC Vice President for Corporate Planning and Communications. Representatives from other Key Shelter Agencies, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), and private sector organizations within the real estate industry were also present.
Honorable Jose Francisco “Kiko” B. Benitez, Committee Chairperson and District Representative of the Third District of Negros Occidental, presided over the meeting. The discussion centered on economic and socialized price ceilings, as well as incentivized compliance with the Balanced Housing Development Program of the government.
During the meeting, an important point raised for SHFC’s consideration was the possibility of financing unfinished projects from the Key Shelter Agencies (KSAs) or Local Government Units (LGUs). Additionally, there was a call to examine spatial, geographical, socio-economic, and demographic segmentation of housing program beneficiaries.
