Social Housing Finance champions join Pride Month 2024

More than a hundred gender advocates and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community signed up and participated in a series of activities celebrating love, unity, and equality during this year’s Pride Month. The Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere-Alyansa ng mga Lalaking Ayaw sa Karahasan (MOVE-ALAK), a local allies group within the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), gathered its members for training activities on June 20 and 21, culminating in a Pride Run on June 22, joined by several allied SHFC officers and employees.

Last year, the SHFC contingent joined Metro Manila Pride’s protest parade in support of the Anti-Discrimination Bill, which advocates for equal treatment and inclusive opportunities for individuals of diverse sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC).

Despite various hurdles in the Philippine Congress, several Church denominations, celebrities and political personalities have thrown-in various support, of various forms and degrees, to fight discrimination against people of diverse SOGIESC.

SHFC MOVErs continue to receive generous support from the Agency’s Gender and Development (GAD) Team and the GAD Focal Point System. Gender allies in SHFC have also actively supported initiatives that promote equal recognition and protection of rights.
