Homeowners, shelter agency volunteers unite for a ‘Greener’ Earth Day celebration
Published on 22 April 2024

On the 54th International Earth Day, volunteers from Homeowners Associations, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development – Region III, and the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) joined forces for a tree-planting activity aimed at raising awareness about the environment.
In San Fernando City, this collaborative effort involving SHFC Central Luzon emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability. Prandy Vergara, SHFC’s Central Luzon Head for the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program, highlighted the integration of green and livable spaces into every 4PH housing development plan in Central Luzon.
Amid rapid economic growth and urbanization, shelter agencies renew their commitment to the planet’s well-being by nurturing green spaces within settlement areas. Simultaneously, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources has spearheaded Earth-saving initiatives, including the fight against plastic use on a month-long celebration of April as Earth Month.
Happy Earth Day, mga ka-SHFC!
