Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) President and CEO, Federico Laxa, participated in the plenary deliberations on the proposed Fiscal Year 2025 budget at the House of Representatives alongside Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary, Jose Rizalino Acuzar, and other key shelter agency heads.
During the session, Navotas Lone District Representative and Committee on Appropriations Vice Chairperson Toby Tiangco emphasized the critical role of DHSUD and its affiliated agencies in addressing the nation’s housing challenges. Rep. Tiangco was joined in by Caloocan City 2nd District Representative Mary Mitzi Cajayon-Uy.
To date, SHFC is actively executing 12 4PH projects, encompassing over 45,000 units. These projects are part of the 111 shovel-ready initiatives designed to provide more than 505,000 units by 2028.
SHFC thanked OFW Party-List Rep. Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino, for her support in advocating for an additional budget for SHFC’s programs, which were only allotted Php 121 Million in the 2025 National Expenditure Program. The corporation likewise acknowledged other honorable members of the Lower House – the Gabriela Women’s Party-List, ACT Teachers Party-List, Bagong Henerasyon Party-List, Basilan Lone District and Northern Samar 1st District Representatives – who actively joined the interpellation and signified their support for an augmented Housing sector budget to solve the widening housing gap in the country.
