DILIMAN, QUEZON CITY – Two Key Shelter Agencies (KSA), the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) and the National Housing Authority (NHA), together with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), signed a deal with the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) to provide essential and timely electricity services to socialized housing projects under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program.
The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed at the DHSUD Main Office in Quezon City, aims to improve the quality of life in existing and new communities by ensuring timely and reliable electrification.
The ceremonial signing was presided by DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, Meralco officials Executive Vice President Ronnie Aperocho and Senior Vice President Ferdinand Geluz, along with SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa and NHA General Manager Joeben Tai.
SHFC President Laxa emphasized the importance of this new collaboration in his speech[1]: “This collaboration with Meralco, which has an extensive electric power distribution franchise, is crucial for the timely energization of our developments. This is especially important as we embark on the full implementation of the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing Program or 4PH – a flagship program of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., under the able leadership of DHSUD Secretary Jerry Acuzar.”
Laxa also echoed that the provision of electricity is critical in every housing development. “No development will ever be complete without these utilities, and no successful delivery of housing units can take place without them,” he added.
